(Meet the Executive Board for the North Texas Chapter of AATF)

🚨🚨 Upcoming Election -- AATF-NTX Treasurer 🚨🚨

Do you have a desire to serve on the AATF-NTX Executive Board? We are currently taking applications* for the position of Treasurer, which is a three-year commitment. If interested, send a message to President@AATFNorthTexas.org. Elections will be held in the fall 2026.

*(Of note: any applicant would be on the election ballot along with our current treasurer, Anne-Cécile Scherer).

AATF-NTX OFFICERS (LOCAL)

Article IV of the Constitution of the North Texas Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French states that the officers on the Executive Board should comprise of a President (2-year term), a Vice-president (2-year term), a Treasurer (3-year term), and a Secretary (3-year term). It also identifies the position of National French Contest Administrator. All together, they strive to fulfill the mission of the Chapter.

Président [AATF-NTX]

Michel NKWOCHA (Elected Fall 2025) | 📧 President@AATFNorthTexas.org

Duties include...

✔ ️Presiding over local Chapter meetings.

✔ Receiving and verifying eligibility of applications for the H. Wynn Rickey Award and submit nomination material to the award committee overseeing the results.

✔ Receiving and processing applications for the Helen Lorenz Excellence in Teaching Award and give out the award(s) to the winning candidate(s) at the Spring meeting (as funds allow).

✔ Convoking or polling the local executive committee as needed.

✔ Soliciting nominations committee members.

✔ Overseeing the writing or revision of the local Chapter Constitution.

✔ Seeing that other officers carry out their duties in a timely fashion.

✔ Having signing authority on the Chapter’s bank account and may authorize expenditures from Chapter funds as deemed necessary for the benefit of the Chapter

✔ Recruiting new members when possible, encouraging former members to renew and inviting at-large members to join the Chapter.

✔ Meeting a minimum of twice yearly with other officers to plan the Chapter’s goals and programming.

✔ Organizing communication to members as appropriate.

Vice-présidente [AATF-NTX]

Emily SIMMONS (Elected Fall 2025) | 📧 VP@AATFNorthTexas.org

Duties include...

✔ Presiding over Chapter meetings in the absence of the President

✔ Assisting the President in his duties.

✔ Assuming the President’s duties in the event of an emergency.

✔ Recruiting new members when possible, encourage former members to renew and invite at-large members to join the Chapter.

✔ Supporting the President in organizing communication to members as appropriate.

Trésorière [AATF-NTX]

Anne-Cécile SCHERER (Re-elected Fall 2023) | 📧 Treasurer@AATFNorthTexas.org

Duties include...

✔ Reporting disbursements and income at the regular chapter meetings

✔ Receiving and disbursing Chapter funds for local activities.

✔ Compiling a list of eligible members and supervising the drawing for the Travel Grant at the Spring Meeting (as funds allow).

✔ Recruiting new members when possible, encouraging former members to renew, and inviting at-large members to join the Chapter.

Secrétaire [AATF-NTX]

Emily WHITEHURST (Re-elected Fall 2024)

Duties include...

✔ Taking minutes during monthly Executive Board meetings and at Chapter meetings and submitting them for approval.

✔ Recruiting new members when possible, encouraging former members to renew, and inviting at-large members to join the Chapter.

✔ Reporting results of Chapter elections to National and Regional Representatives.

Admin du Grand Concours [AATF-NTX]

Christine KING (Elected Spring 2024) | 📧 GrandConcours@AATFNorthTexas.org

Duties include...

✔ Facilitating contest registration and administration, answering questions in a timely manner and acting as liaison between teachers and National Contest Administration.

✔ Collaborating with Chapter Executive Committee to improve the experience of the National French Contest for teachers and students.

✔ Promoting the NFC and presenting key numbers about local enrollment and other logistics during Chapter meetings.

Along with the officers and NFC administrator above, the immediate Past President of the North Texas Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French is part of the Executive Committee, adding valuable insight and counsel to the Chapter
