Je Pense, Donc Je Prompt: AI and the Future of Learning

with Dr. Valerie Pierce and Erica Wleklinski, Rutgers Preparatory School

Dr. Valerie Pierce and Erica Wleklinski will present an overview of how AI bots work and the impact of various types of AI on student learning and social-emotional development. We will highlight concerns, ways to mitigate some potential harms and potential benefits in education. The majority of the content shared was originally presented at the Learning and the Brain conference titled “Teaching Generation AI-Z”.

Navigating the AP® French Language and Culture Exam Update: Direct Insights from the Development Committee with Natalie Letourneau

Curious about what the new AP® French Exam means for your syllabus? Led by a veteran teacher, High School Co-Chair of the AP® French Development Committee, and recent AP® Reading Exam Leader for spoken tasks, this workshop clarifies the major exam changes straight from the source. Explore key updates to the format and free-response sections, and discover practical classroom activities to build student proficiency and confidence ahead of test day.  

Listening Activities with Olivia Monillas

Based on the book “Breaking the Sound Barrier” written by Gianfranco Conti and Steve Smith, this hands-on workshop equips language educators with evidence-based strategies to transform how students process spoken language. Teachers will learn how to help students bridge phonology, vocabulary and grammatical structures to process speech accurately and efficiently. Examples of different activities will be shown in French as well as some time to create an activity appropriate for your own students.

October 2025 event:

AATF-NJ is organizing an outing to the Montclair Art Museum on Saturday, October 18th:
- 1pm-3pm
A docent will present the tour in French.
The tour also includes a weaving/textile activity in English.
- 3:30 pm- 5:30 pm.
Let's meet with our colleagues after the museum visit for an "apéro" at Faubourg restaurant in Montclair.

According to the NJ Devils' organization, some 250 people bought seat for the game through AATF-NJ.

The event started with a Q & A with a French-speaking representative of the NJ Devils'organization.
