AP French as a Program-Wide Conversation : Relier l'enquête, la communication et l'interprétation culturelle à tous les niveaux

Presented by Deanna Scheffer

What can French teachers at every level take away from the new AP French course and exam changes? How can these changes help us develop strategies that encourage more students to continue beyond French 1 and 2—and build greater engagement and enthusiasm across our programs?

Let's explore how AP French expectations can positively influence instruction throughout the language-learning pathway. We will consider how inquiry, authentic resources, student voice and choice, purposeful communication, and cultural interpretation can be introduced at age- and proficiency-appropriate levels without turning beginning courses into AP classes. Let's examine concrete ways to help students move beyond describing cultural products and practices to explaining their relationships to cultural perspectives, values, beliefs, and attitudes. The webinar will provide an opportunity to reflect on current practice and consider practical ways to connect instruction across levels.
