Planning a Virtual Visit of Paris

Assignment: Vous devez
  1. choisir un hôtel deux étoiles;
  2. décrire votre trajet en bus ou métro de l'aéroport à l'hôtel;
  3. planifier trois repas par jour;
  4. incorporer la visite d'un monument et d'un musée par jour;
  5. choisir des activités en soirée: un film, un concert, une pièce, et une croisière en bateau-mouche (minimum);
  6. incorporer une autre visite qui vous intéresse particulièrement;
  7. facultatif: imaginer une excursion d'une journée dans les environs de Paris, par exemple, à Chartres, à Versailles, au Parc Astérix, ou à Euro-Disney;
  8. retour à l'aéroport Charles-de-Gaulle.

    Students can then create a "virtual visit" Web page to describe their "trip." This sample page has been created using primarily four Web sites, the Paris Tourist Office Web site, the RATP Web site, les Pages Jaunes, and Pariscope.

History of Paris through the Métro

List of Paris métro stations

The results described in the article  were achieved simply by typing in the names of métro stations into a number of French search engines, including Nomade, QuiQuoiOù?, and Yahoo! France.  The objective was to use the results to learn more about the significance of a particular métro station name to French history and culture.  Station names were selected randomly and some of the search results highlighted.
