With the creation of divisions D and E, students on Block or Modular schedules will be able to compete in the Grand Concours on an equal footing with students on regular academic calendars. The following table includes the placement levels for Concours contestants enrolled on Block or Modular schedules. Divisions A and B (for levels 01, 1 and 2), and C (for all levels) apply as before in addition to the new D and E divisions.
Division C will apply at every level when the student has more extensive background than B-division students. Examples of Division C: Native French students; Foreign exchange students from French-speaking countries; Students who, after their 6th birthday, have studied for more than two years (four semesters) at a school where French was the principal language of instruction and/or who have lived in a French-speaking community for three or more years.
Division D will apply to the student who at the date of Concours, is one level higher in French than he/she was in the fall semester.
Division E, on the other hand, applies to the student who took French in the Fall term, but who is not taking French at the date of Concours.
