Important information for Sponsors: Please remember that Students are not officially inducted into the National French Honor Society unless the Student Membership Fee is submitted.  This fee is $3 per student and covers the cost of an unlettered certificate.
             For more information, please refer to the SHF National Constitution found below.

Pre-shipment processing time is currently 3-5 DAYS.  Orders are processed in the order in which they are received, regardless of type of shipping chosen. March-June is our busy season for SHF orders.  As the volume of orders increase so will the processing time of materials.

Important information before placing SHF orders: 1. Sponsor must be current AATF member 2. An active charter must be established at sponsoring school 3. SHF orders must include: order form, payment or Purchase order, and list of the names of new student inductees 4. School or Sponsor's personal checks only (No parent or student checks)

About the SHF: The establishment of a chapter of the Société honoraire de français offers several potential benefits to a secondary French program. First, it provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding scholarship in the study of French language through selection for membership, the placement of a special seal on the graduate's diploma, the wearing of a tri-colored cord at graduation, and the right to wear the official emblem/pin of the honor society. Second, the chapter provides a vehicle for focusing activities around French language and literature and also for encouraging member participation in the annual writing contest as well as application for the annual travel grants. In addition, there is the opportunity for students to experience leadership in serving as officers, directing the initiation ceremony, and/or leading other chapter events.

 

How do I know if my Charter is active? An active SHF Charter requires 3 things annually:
1. SHF sponsor must maintain Annual AATF membership
2. SHF Student Initiates (certificates) must be purchased atleast bi-annually for NEW INDUCTEES**
3. Sponsor must submit Annual Chapter Report by June of each school year (see below)

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR TRAVEL AWARD WINNERS AND TO ALL OF THOSE WHO SUBMITTED ENTRIES!! All 10 of our Winners have been notified and accepted their prize of $750 towards their approved Travel proposal. Please encourage your French Students to apply to the 2013 SHF Travel Award this fall.  2012 Winners will be anounced in the next edition of L'Élan
