Worldwise Schools du Corps de la Paix est un programme de leçons et matériel destiné aux élèves de l'école primaire et secondaire qui encourage la compréhension d'autres cultures et des tendances mondiales. Ces documents gratuits se trouvent sur un site Web et soutiennent l'idée de «glocality» (c'est-à-dire, les réponses locales aux phénomènes mondiaux) pour mieux comprendre tout ce que nous partageons. Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Rousseau inspired Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and others in the American Enlightenment, who in turn influenced the French Revolution. The presenter will address the mutual relations between France and Philadelphia and discuss ways of incorporating them into classroom activities.

The speaker will present findings from a small study comparing students' oral proficiency levels in various Canadian elementary French programs. The results suggest students using the Accelerative Integrated Method (AIM) have oral proficiency levels which compare favorably to students in more intensive programs. Participants will rate audio samples collected during the study.

Even though international politics and changing demographics in France have resulted in acts of violence against Jews and Jewish institutions, the presenter will challenge claims that France is engaging in state-sponsored acts that put its Jewish population in danger. It will focus on the richness of Jewish culture in Paris today by highlighting synagogues, museums, and places, as well as annual events that are made possible by state-sponsored programming and support. pleasures, challenges, and surprises of choosing and featuring one

the Renaissance, classicism, and the Enlightenment, and by some of the
greatest novelists, playwrights, and nonfiction authors of the
nineteenth and twentieth centuries. However, the list of one hundred
great and timeless French books also includes medieval chivalric
romances and allegories; political, philosophical, and devotional texts;
as well as detective novels and science fiction. Writers from
metropolitan France are featured alongside francophone authors from
Canada, the Caribbean, Africa, Belgium, and Switzerland. One
Hundred Great French Books offers a rich, varied, and multicultural panorama of
literature written in French, from the earliest times up to the present

L'intervenante présentera des données recueillies lors d'observations
dans deux écoles élémentaire en
France. Les pratiques langagières des enseignants mettent en évidence
les variantes stylistiques qu'ils privilégient et posent donc en modèle.
L'analyse de ces observations
permettra une réflexion sur la notion de norme scolaire en français
langue étrangère.
